Meet The Artist
JULIE LAFRENIÈRE
Originally from West Nipissing Ontario, Julie desired to pursue art and make it her career in some way or another. She ultimately went on the path to study Social Work and Psychology and established working over a decade in youth justice. She returned to her home town to raise her young family and picked up the brush where she had left it.
In a blending of her passion for art and working with youth, today Julie can be found in her studio and in the classroom.
Julie primarily works with acrylic on canvas; mainly landscapes and nature. Her body of work reflects her vast interest in the arts and creating. Her studio time is spent between creating her Original Acrylic Paintings and Art Commissions; That`s your pictures and your ideas made specifically for you!
SHE IS A VISIONARY:
She dreams up her art in a style that is a combination of realism and stylized-abstract minimalism, then applying spontaneous colors, unusual colors, a limited color palette or a lack of color; bringing a different meaning to `Life in a painting.`
SHE IS INTUITIVE:
Self taught artist, she creates without limitations in a way that feels best. She cherishes the learning process every step of the way.
SHE IS A MINIMALIST AND A PERSPECTIVE PAINTER:
Applying a detailed focus point on a flat surface and adding dimensions that makes the artist feel free, at peace and reflective; making the mind wander for miles. She hopes it does the same for you!
ARTIST STATEMENT
When I first began painting, I heard the term Artistic Style mentioned a few times along the way. I painted without giving thought to it and it became apparent, I had a style. Looking back on my body of work, it is only now that I can say I am an artist that blurs the line between realism and stylized-abstract minimalism.
I add bold feelings to my paintings with color contrasts or complimentary colors. I usually paint two of one kind; Two scenes that are very similar to each other that go perfectly together hung in the same space (Bringing a space together with Art). In addition, my paintings can be distinguished by my focus on the perception of distance and dimension that I naturally include in my art. My focus point is often more along the lines of realistic or more detailed, the rest is organized stylized-abstract minimalism.
I create because it is my passion. I shall forever create. The process is my form of meditation; an alter state of being. Some might say that art in general or my paintings ooze solitude but I have never created without people; it is all of you that inspire me. That feeling you projected to me, the image you painted me, the experiences you have provided me, the places you have brought me (real or fantasy), the stories you have shared (real or not) are all reflected in my art.
My most recent works were completed in the last 2 years of on and off again `isolation`. Its no surprise that what you see are bold feelings often times in vast landscapes.
Take a long deep breath.
Smirk a little; for the trees are purple after all.
