A Website Journey

The Website is yours! Yours to enjoy and browse all that is available to you at the Studio.

I launched my website Studio JULIE LAFRENIÈRE 4 days ago. I added a section called Blog. I have to be honest that I have never written a Blog before, nor have I ever read one. I know its a journal in a sorts. I know this because I googled What is a Blog ? I`m not that old; yet I feel back in time. Sometimes I think I`m in a time, even pre-birth date. Say, 1950`s. Btw, I was born in 1985.

I read and I was told that websites tend to have an advantage in a sorts when a Blog is added. Firstly, your audience gets to know you a little better, secondly, it`s an opportunity to empower all, lastly, something about the more words included in your website the more you have a chance to `Pop up in a search.` Okay, that`s what I want, right !?

This story is about introducing you to my Art Website Creation. The very first day to publishing it. I will also share with you what I learnt along the way. If you are also back in time like me, it could help you out if you have ever considered creating your own website! If you are `new`, then just maybe maybe this could offer at the least, inspiration ?

Roughly a month ago, I mentioned an interest in creating a website for my art, my self. It was suggested to me by my brother Luc (my go to person for all things `new`and more) to check out Squarespace; a website builder, as it very user friendly even for someone like me. After a quick tutorial, I was on my way no problem! Squarespace seriously makes it easy. They include tons of beautiful templates and page designs to choose from that is sure to meet most requirements and desires. (Btw, I went with my gut and chose the first template I saw that I liked which is the template called- pike-cinnamon). I added the categories I needed and the sub categories. I added photos. I added my text and I added buttons and links that actually worked! I did not overthink it while I was creating my website. I do believe this made a site that was very authentic to me.

When you first sign up and create an account you get a free trial to build your entire website; to make sure you absolutely love it before agreeing to purchase. I think I got 15 days. Super Awesome! It took me about 10 days and I was ready to purchase! Bonus, on that day, 20% off was being offered on a subscription + 1 free domain name for a year!

At the least if you have ever considered a website for yourself, check out Squarespace and try out the trial and see what comes of it. It is live and you can continue changing it up anytime you want. If you encounter any problems along the way, there`s a Help section that was easy to navigate and follow the instructions. Check it out and try it out @ www.squarespace.com

Squarespace also provides a domain to purchase, that`s www.studiojulielafreniere.com

I needed that. That`s the way the audience gets linked (arrives) to your website. What am I calling myself? I went creative and I went ultra creative. Eventually I decided to go with something easy to remember and something that tells you what I do. My name and studio to let you know what I do. Studio, gallery, art were all explored but studio sounded best to me and was available. You can explore names for yourself and check out availability here.

Okay so something important to mention here, I went ahead and purchased both www.studiojulielafreniere.com and www.studiojulielafreniere.ca

I was informed that being in Canada, some automatically type .ca when searching, others automatically .com. For example some well known companies in Canada have failed to purchase both and when searching for them you can either land on their official website or some other. I did not want an error like that to occur and so to secure my name, i did both.

My website journey was a fast one. There`s a lot more that is available for me to explore and add in the future but for now it`s everything I wanted.
